Wild Life is aiming for a February 8, 2027 launch at $40, with its story-driven RPG arriving before the Sandbox. The team calls the date a firm development goal rather than a placeholder. The creative mode is planned as free DLC later in 2027 for everyone who owns the game.
That split gives the team time to finish and polish the main adventure first. The Sandbox will then get its own pass for stability and usability, and is intended to include the Sandbox content made during crowdfunding up to that DLC’s release.
What the $40 Purchase Covers
The announced price includes the game and the later Sandbox DLC. The studio also rules out battle passes and in-game microtransactions. Crowdfunding supporters with at least $40 in lifetime support will be eligible to request a copy of version 1.0; the team plans to explain the claim process in a separate post later in the year.
The roadmap aims for content completion around late September or early October, followed by optimization, bug fixes, balancing, and visual polish. A final gameplay trailer and another Steam-page overhaul are planned for early December.
Why the Old Demo Is Going Away
The Steam demo comes from a 2022 crowdfunding build. The developer says it no longer represents the game and scheduled its removal for September 11. No replacement demo is currently planned.
That makes older demo videos a poor guide to the final version’s state. The studio plans to keep posting Friday development reports during the run-up to launch, with the December trailer providing a newer look at the game.
The Work Behind the Roadmap
The accompanying September 4 report covers the Pillar Region and Desert, fixes to cliff blending and landscape shadows, and a completed tutorial blockout ready for quest implementation. Bow balance is changing too: stronger early damage, less scaling from later attributes and upgrades, proper attribute requirements for ranged weapons, and a higher arrow capacity.
The save system is being moved to asynchronous saving. In the team’s measurements, the impact on the main game thread fell from roughly two seconds to fifty milliseconds, while save files shrank from around 6 MB to 1 MB.
Sandbox work continues alongside the main game. Its file browser gains folder creation, a larger thumbnail view, and asynchronous thumbnail loading to reduce stalls in crowded folders.
