New Babylon is a rough place for a walk. Pure Onyx follows Onyx through streets controlled by gangs, criminal syndicates and a corrupt police force, with the Babel Corporation adding bio-engineered threats. Eromancer builds that setting into a side-scrolling beat ’em up with RPG elements and fully animated 3D art influenced by 1980s cyberpunk anime.
What the July Alpha Adds
The July 2026 test build introduces a dismounted Splicer Biker enemy that Street Lord Wraxe can summon. Onyx gains the Digging Claws weapon, while the Underground Refinery receives work-in-progress maps.
The Sewers survival stage uses an experimental faction-based enemy spawning system. Some graphics were temporarily disabled there because of a memory leak. That makes this a development snapshot, with changes to encounters and equipment arriving alongside fixes.
Adult Content and Combat
Adult scenes are integrated into gameplay and the gallery, including encounters tied to hostile enemies. That content involves coercive situations rather than only consensual romance. This overview focuses on the combat systems and release structure.
What the $8 Purchase Includes
The Windows download is Alpha 0.148.1, sold as the July 2026 release. Its listed price was $8 when checked. Eromancer explicitly states that this purchase is not access to the final retail game and will not receive every subsequent monthly build. Later test releases are separate itch.io products.
The game remains in development and shares a setting with Eromancer’s Malise and the Machine. A monthly test build being available does not mean the full campaign has released.
